history and archives.

The oldest student organization on campus, formally named Societus Technica, or the Tech Club, was started in 1962. The Tech Club is an organization for individuals with an interest in technology.

Throughout the academic year we raise monies through candy sales, pop can collection, and fund raising events like the Pumpkin Carving in the Student Center. We also help the Kellogg Corporation each year in preparation for their annual stockholders meeting.

The monies raised by the Tech Club go to at least three different activities. First, each year the Tech Club sponsors a family at Christmas time, often the family of a KCC student. We typically shop for the family and provide food and presents for their Christmas celebration. Secondly, the Tech Club designs and constructs a Canned Food Sculpture for the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. In our 11 years competing in the Canned Food Sculpture contest, the Tech Club has won the Expert's Choice award for best design four times. Finally, the Tech Club usually takes an annual field trip. In the past we have gone to Toronto, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Spring Green Wisconsin. Our trips typically involve architecture, technology, museums, and eating.

The advisor for the Tech Club is Doug Mann, a CADD instructor at KCC. If you are interested in the Tech Club feel free to contact Mr. Mann, or any of the officers.
