TAKE A STAND #4: - SHOULD WE KEEP THE DEATH PENALTY?

    

Let's say Osama Bin Laden (or some other equally evil individual) is caught, and following a conviction of his  bombing/blowing-up of the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in D.C., is sentenced to Death.

 

Some may say GOOD RIDDENS long live the "Death Penalty"! Still, yet again, another falsely accused citizen was released from prison and "Death Row" after some 10 years - DNA evidence proving his innocence.  Sometimes the Government makes mistakes. . .  

SO, Fry? or Rot? What's your stand?   

To complete this assignment, please do the following:

  1. "Surf and Find" what the parameters of the 8th Amendment to Constitution.
  2. "Surf and Find" the proportion of countries that have the death penalty.
  3. Review Chapters 10-13 and the corresponding Lecture Notes.

Position Paper:

Using the instructions listed on the main page, articulate your position on the Death Penalty. Is it Cruel AND unusual?  YOU MUST USE INFORMATION FROM THE SITES BELOW - AS WELL AS TWO (2) ADDITIONAL SITES AND YOUR TEXT and/or LECTURE IN WRITING YOUR POSITION.
