Technology Policies and Standards

Support

College will only support the College standard software. Support includes help-desk assistance and training. (Technology Committee, April 25, 2003)

The use of out-of-standard software acquired by the College prior to adoption of a software standard can continue. Previously acquired out-of-standard software requiring annual license renewal will not be renewed. Additional licenses or upgrades will not be purchased. (Technology Committee, April 25, 2003)

Hardware Standards

Administrative: Microsoft Windows compatible PC; Apple Macintosh where appropriate.

Software Standards

Administrative system: Datatel Colleague 

Desktop PC operating system: Windows 2000 or Windows XP

Administrative office applications: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)

HTML editor: Microsoft FrontPage

Electronic mail client software: Novell Groupwise. Except for heavy e-mail users, use of Groupwise WebAccess rather than Groupwise client is encouraged.

Electronic calendar: Novell Groupwise

Course management system: Blackboard

Course grade book software: Chariot MicroGrade

PDA operating system: Palm OS
