Technology Committee Charter
Kellogg Community College is a progressive community college with a solid
reputation for academic excellence and up-to-date facilities. Kellogg Community
College believes that technology is an essential tool for teaching, learning,
and conducting institutional functions. The Technology Committee is a standing
committee of the College that provides guidance to the College in the effective
and efficient use of technology.
The Technology Committee is responsible for
- Recommending to College faculty and staff actions that will expand and
improve student learning through the use of technology;
- Recommending to the College faculty and staff actions that will improve
efficiency and effectiveness of College processes through the use of
technology;
- Recommending policy direction to the President's Council for consideration
and approval;
- Recommending to College faculty and staff guidelines and procedures for
effective and efficient use of technology;
- Maintaining a College technology plan that is consistent with the needs of
the College's communities and the College's goals, and that anticipates how
the role and use of technology in education will change in the future;
- Periodically evaluating the effectiveness of the Technology Committee.
Through its own efforts or delegation to others, the Technology Committee
accomplishes its responsibilities by
- Analyzing the College's internal and external environment to identify
issues and trends that require addressing;
- Identifying potential solutions that address the identified issues and
trends, including in the criteria for solution selection both short-term and
long-term costs: initial hardware and software costs, training costs,
replacement and update costs, and of ease of use costs;
- Recommending to appropriate groups, staff, and faculty the solutions the
Committee believes should be implemented;
- Providing assistance when requested in the development and implementation
of solutions;
- Reviewing the outcome evaluation data after solutions have been
implemented.
Members of the Technology Committee are:
- Dean, Career and Occupational Education (Chair)
- Vice President, Institutional Advancement
- Dean, Arts and Sciences and Regional Education
- Chief Information Officer
- Director, Learning Technologies
- Director, Customized Training, or Director, Regional Manufacturing
Technology Center
- Director, Business and Information Technology
- Department chair or director from Arts and Sciences appointed by the dean
- Two faculty from the Arts and Sciences Division and two faculty from the
Career and Occupational Education Division appointed by the dean and serving
two-year renewable terms
- Student Services Council faculty or staff appointed by the Dean of Student Services to serve concurrently on the Technology Committee and
the Student Services Council, and serving a two year renewable term.
- Faculty or staff appointed by the Dean of Student Services and
serving a two-year renewable term.
- Faculty or staff appointed by the Director of Library Services and serving
a two-year renewable term.
- Support staff person serving a two-year term that rotates among the
division.
