Course Prerequisites

Before enrolling in this course, the student should be familiar with basic touch-typing fundamentals and have some experience working in a windows environment with a mouse. You will need access to a computer with Office 2007 and an Internet Browser.  You should also be familiar with basic Microsoft Word 2007 functions that would include creating and editing a document; inserting graphics, tables, bullets, and numbers; using Help; and proofreading techniques. And taken the course OIT 176 Beginning Word.

Description

This course is designed to introduce you to intermediate fundamentals of Word 2007. You will learn how to create a document with a table, chart, and watermark; generate form letters, mailing labels, envelopes, and directories; create a professional newsletter; learn about the speech and handwriting recognition features of Word 2007; and learn to merge form letters to e-mail addresses using an Outlook contacts list.

You will learn the advantages of becoming a Microsoft Office Specialist.  You will learn where to find a testing center to take the certification exam.

Ø   Insert a Word document into an open document

Ø  Headers and Footers --Create a header different from a previous header; Change the starting page number in a Section; Create a footer different from a Previous Footer;

Ø  Sum Columns in a Table using the AutoSum Button

Ø  Charts--Create a chart from a Word Table; Modify a chart in Microsoft Graph; Format a chart in Word

Ø  Tables--Use the Draw Table feature to Create a Table; Change the direction of Text in Table Cells; Change Alignment of Text in Table Cells;

Ø  Explain the merge process--including the terms, data record and data field

Grading

Your grade will be determined on the basis of the total number of points earned during the semester on Intermediate Word.
