It is best to contact me via the course discussion board or e-mail. I will respond to student’s e-mails promptly. This means (Monday through Friday) you will get a response within 24 hours of writing your message. On the weekends I don’t promise to answer the e-mails, but you will find that I usually check my e-mails twice a day and will respond back promptly.

Course Prerequisites:   Before enrolling in this course, the student should be familiar with basic touch-typing fundamentals and have some experience working in a windows environment with a mouse.  You will need access to a computer with PowerPoint 2007 and an Internet  Browser.
Textbook Required:   Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 Comprehensive Concepts and Techniques, by Shelly, Cashman, and Sebok,  Course Technology, 2005.  ISBN: 1428367160

Requirements:  Students must have access to the following:

  • Equipment:  You will need a computer that is able to access and interact with the Web. For best results, a Pentium or PowerMac with a 56 Kbps or faster modem and 256 MB or more of RAM should be considered the minimal system.
  • Software:  You will need one of the following Internet browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher; Firefox; Mac users may use Safari or Firefox.
  • Internet connection: Home users need Internet access through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that offers a reliable connection to the Internet.

Course Goal Upon completion of this course the successful student will have (1) gained the skills necessary to start preparing for the Microsoft Office specialist Comprehensive Power Point 2007 Examination and (2) learned how the PowerPoint 2007 skills acquired can be used in the business world.
Description This course introduces students to the basic features of PowerPoint and presents introductory information about the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam program.  Major topics will include: using a design template and auto layouts to create a presentation; using outline view and clip art to create a slide show, and creating a presentation on the Web using PowerPoint
Objectives

You will have mastered the material in this course when you can:

  • start and customize PowerPoint

  • describe the PowerPoint window

  • describe the speech recognition capabilities of PowerPoint

  • Select a design template

  • Create a title slide

  • Change the font size and font style

  • Save a presentation

  • Add a new slide

  • Create a text slide with a single-level bulleted list

  • Create a text slide with a multi-level bulleted list

  • End a slide show with a black slide

  • Move to another slide in normal view

  • View a presentation in slide show view

  • Quit PowerPoint

  • Open a presentation

  • Check spelling and consistency, correct errors, and edit a presentation

  • Display a presentation in black and white

  • Print a presentation in black and white

  • Use the PowerPoint Help system to answer you questions

  • Create a presentation from an outline

  • Start and customize a new slide show

  • Create a presentation using the Outline tab

  • Add a slide on the Outline tab

  • Create text slides with a single-level bulleted list on the Outline tab

  • Create text slides with a multi-level bulleted list on the Outline tab

  • Create a closing slide on the Outline tab

  • Save and review a presentation

  • Change the slide layout

  • Insert clip art from the Microsoft Clip Organizer

  • Use the Automatic Layout Options button

  • Move clip art

  • Change clip art size

  • Add a header and footer to outline pages

  • Add an animation scheme to a slide show

  • Animate clip art

  • Run an animated slide show

  • Print a presentation outline

  • Save a presentation as a web page
