Online Courses

What courses are offered online by KCC?

For a quick view of the online course offerings of current or upcoming semesters, click on the semester links to the left.

You can also search KRIS for the courses you want. A login ID and password are required only to actually sign up for the courses. You can search KRIS without a login ID and password. To perform a search for courses, go to the KRIS entry page, read any information that is applicable, then click on the KRIS button. Once in KRIS,

  1. Click on "WebAdvisor for students"
  2. Click on "Search for classes"
  3. Select the appropriate "Term" (semester) from the drop-down box
  4. Fill in any information in the remaining boxes that will narrow the search to fit your needs
  5. Select "Web" from the "Location" box if you are interested only in online courses
  6. Click the "Submit" button at the bottom of the screen
  7. Repeat the process until you find the course or courses you want. Be sure to note the "registration key" for the courses for which you wish to sign up.

See "Services for Online Students" section of this web site for information about the process for enrolling in courses.

What do the courses cost?

See the KCC Registrar's page for the current tuition and fee charge. To determine the cost of the course, simply multiply the credit hours by the applicable rate on the Registrar's page. The credit hours for the courses are in the course list available through the links at the left, the course description pages, or KRIS. Some courses have additional fees for course-specific supplies or expenses. The amount of this extra course fee is available only in KRIS or the paper version of the schedule.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, one or more textbooks must be purchased for each course at your additional expense. Some online courses require the use of an "Access Key" (it is a code that you type in when you enter the online course) that comes with a new textbook. If you purchase a used textbook, you will have to purchase an "Access Key" separately.

Refunds

Eligibility for a refund is determined by when you take official action to drop or withdraw from a course. The official policy is on the KCC Refund Page. To paraphrase the policy, you can obtain a 100% refund (minus an adjustment fee) if you drop or withdraw from the course within the first one-tenth of the class meeting time. After the refund period, a refund is not available (see the refund page for exceptions).
