"Virtual Demonstration of Rehabilitation Equipment Using a Digital Camcorder and Presentation Technologies"

Barbara "BJ" Simmons
Physical Therapy Instructor

Project Description
BJ Simmons, PT InstructorThe primary purpose for creating this particular presentation was to enhance my Industrial Rehabilitation lecture by demonstrating to students how to correctly teach a patient to manipulate (pick up and move) industrial equipment.  The equipment was not available on campus so I traveled to the location where the equipment was located and videotaped and photographed an individual manipulating the equipment.  Of course, the virtual demonstration did not allow students to directly manipulate the equipment themselves, however it did provide them with detailed and rich examples of correct methods for picking up and moving equipment and that is better than if I simply lectured verbally.
