Fast Track
Professional Development Funds
Fast Track funds are allocated to Kellogg Community College from
the Federal government through the Michigan Department of Labor and
Economic Growth (DLEG). These funds are provided as a result of the Carl
D. Perkins Vocational and Applied Technology Act.
The purpose of the funds is “…to assist occupational education
faculty by providing support to upgrade their skills and competencies
through the acquisition of knowledge and experience directly related to
the occupational content of their teaching assignment(s).” The
activities funded by Fast Track need to “…change or revise the
occupational content of the course or program.” The occupational
education faculty for which funding is sought must be directly involved
in teaching occupational specialty courses and supportive courses that
are part of a State approved occupational program. Not all occupational
programs at Kellogg Community College are State approved.
To determine if your activity qualifies for Fast Track funding and
ascertain that funds are available, contact the office of the
Dean of
Career and Occupational Education. Should Fast Track funding seem
feasible, the next step is to submit an application form to the
office of the Dean of Career and Occupational Education. Information
from the form is submitted to the State for approval. Once State
approval is received, follow KCC travel procedures to formalize
permission for the professional development activity.
Upon completion of the Fast Track activity, the faculty member must
submit a Fast Track narrative
report to the Dean of Career and Occupational Education.
To apply for these funds, fill out the
application
form (Word doc) and contact
Chuck Parker (x2390). PART A:
