How can we help you?
The Learning Technologies group is here to support faculty with
instructional technologies. Below you will find information on how we assist faculty
with planning, developing, and implementing of instructional technology in
teaching and learning environments.
Here are some examples of how we can help
you or contact us for more information about
our technology support services.
Academic Web Server
A web server (http://academic.kellogg.edu), uniquely allocated for KCC faculty use, has been
provided by the College and supported by the Learning Technologies
group. Faculty are provided with a FrontPage account in order to
create and publish web-based materials in their own personal Web
folder.
Consulting
We provide one-to-one and group assistance to faculty to help them use
technology effectively in their instruction and work, with a special emphasis on teaching and learning.
Faculty are welcome to make an appointment with a group member to discuss uses of technology in a course, to obtain help with planning an instructional technology project, or to learn more about using a particular type of technology.
We also will come to a department to offer a presentation on using technology
or to discuss developing a plan for using technology. Visit our Staff
page for contact information.

Digital Media
Support
Our multimedia specialist provides a variety of support services in digital formats such as video,
photo, and audio. Please contact Ted Wyckoff
(x2378) to request digital media support.
Professional
Development Center
The Professional Development Center,
located in the Learning Resource Center, is a computer lab dedicated to
the use of KCC instructors (faculty and adjunct faculty). There
are nine workstations, a scanner, CD writer, zip drives, and black/white
and color printers. All of the workstations have a Windows OS and are
loaded with Microsoft Office XP. The room also has a
ceiling mounted projector for presentations/workshops.
Instructional
Technologies
Our group provides assistance with a number of instructional technology tools, such as
Blackboard software for developing
web-based courses. We also provide and support the software known
as the WIDS Learning Design system that creates performance-based
curriculum. Each instructional building on campus is equipped with at
least one multimedia cart. You are welcome to request personalized assistance in learning
how to use these carts in the classroom.

New Faculty
Orientation
Full-time faculty that are new to Kellogg Community College are required
to participate in a three day orientation. The Learning
Technologies group coordinates this orientation. Faculty eligible
for the orientation start their Fall semester three days earlier than
the rest of the faculty. During those three days, faculty invest
about half the time learning about KCC policies and services and the
other half in preparation for classes. Then sometime throughout
the rest of Fall semester
new faculty must attend about a day and a half of additional orientation
workshops.
Online Course Support
KCC supports Blackboard as the college's course management system.
Faculty can attend Blackboard training workshops, request a Blackboard
course, receive help in developing online courses, or talk with us about web-based teaching or course development in
general. Visit our Blackboard
technology support page for more information.

Professional
Development
The professional growth and development of
faculty at KCC is an important goal of the college. Our
group sponsors a variety of events related to teaching and learning
where all faculty are welcome to attend. Some events feature faculty demonstrating and discussing creative applications of technology in teaching.
Other activities used to promote professional development have included
off-campus workshops, seminars, conferences, and short courses.
Please visit the Professional Development area for more
information.
Training Workshops
The Learning Technologies group provides
seminar and hands-on training workshops on a variety of
instructional technology tools. Please visit the Training
Workshops area for more information.
