The focus of the Learning Technologies
group is to assist KCC faculty in achieving their
instructional objectives by providing training, instructional design, and ongoing support for commonly used and emerging methodologies
and technologies.
The formation of the Learning
Technologies group can trace its beginnings to the room
known as the Dial Interactive Technology room located in the back of the current
Learning Resource Center. In July of 1998 the first official
director of the Learning Technologies group was hired.
In
1999, the College established the Professional Development Center
managed by the Director of Learning Technologies. The center serves
several functions. The center serves as the clearinghouse for information
about the use of technology in education. The center also is used
to train faculty on the use of technology in teaching and learning
environments.
To oversee the learning resource center and the technology group, a dean of
Educational Services was brought on board in November of 2000.
Also at that time, the then
official "multimedia specialist" was brought into the group
with a move from the now former "distance learning"
group.
