Grade points Schedule Home page
GRADE:
Your course grade is based upon the total number of points accumulated from both lecture and lab. This includes all individual tests and assignments throughout the semester. Final grades will be assigned according to the following percentage scale.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Prerequisite: A one semester lecture and laboratory course which includes the study of structure, physiology and natural history of plants. Provides a background for more advanced courses and should be elected by pre-medicine as well as prospective Biology majors.
EXAM/QUIZ POLICY:
LECTURE:
The student is expected to attend all lecture exams and all lab quizzes. Any missed lecture exams must be taken the DAY the student returns to lecture. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor prior to the scheduled class time to make arrangements to take the make-up exam. Failure to do this will result in a zero (0) for the exam. Make-up exams will be essay. During the course of the semester several unannounced end of lecture bonus quizzes will be given. These points will total 25.
Lecture quizzes will be 10 points/
LAB:
- Lab Quizzes will be given weekly upon the completion of the unit of study. The quiz will be a 10 point "exit quiz" based upon the Preparation and Review questions in your lab manual, field trips and drawings.
- Missed laboratory sessions must be completed within the week they are scheduled. Lack of Attendance to a lab session will result in a (0) for lab points that week.
- Lab Notebooks will periodically collected and checked for "successful" completion of the assigned drawings.
- During "field-trip" labs, appropriate outdoor attire must be worn to protect against winter cold and wet. Please come prepared!
EXCESSIVE ABSENCE:
When repeated or extended absence in either lecture and/or lab reaches levels where successful completion of the course is jeopardized, an "excessive absence" report will be made to the counseling staff. An attempt will then be made to contact the student to resolve any problems. Continued absenteeism may lead to administrative action.
CHEATING:
Cheating is NOT permitted. Any students caught cheating will receive NO points for the exam or quiz in which the cheating occurred and/or will be subject to the disciplinary procedures of Kellogg Community College (at the discretion of the instructor).
