Math 99
Course Objectives to be assessed on Test 2

  • Define the following words:  Terms, monomial, binomial, trinomial, polynomial, constant term, numerical coefficient, variable, like terms, perimeter.
  • Given any polynomial, identify how many terms there are, what the terms are, the numerical coefficients, the constant term, and the variables.
  • Find the perimeter of a shape.

  • Identify like terms.
  • Add like terms by adding their coefficients.
  • Simplify an expression.

  • Multiply any two monomials.
  • Know how to use the distributive property.
  • Distribute a monomial to a polynomial.

  • Find the greatest common factor (GCF) of a polynomial.
  • Factor a polynomial by factoring out the GCF.
  • Multiply any two binomials by distributing (be able to "FOIL")

  • Factor a trinomial of the form 1x2 + bx + c by finding factors of the constant, c, that add to the coefficient on x, b.
